Evaluation of Drivers and Barriers of Wind Power Generation in Pakistan. SWOT-Delphi Method

In the last two decades electricity shortage has hampered economic growth of Pakistan. To overcome these crises, thermal power plants were commissioned to bridge supply and demand gap. Deployment generation resulted in an unsustainable energy mix with higher cost generation. decade, policymakers have shown considerable interest deploying renewable generally wind particularly. Therefore, this paper evaluates some important drivers barriers SWOT-Delphi approach Relative Importance Index (RII) analysis been applied. The results show that deployment can enhance security environmental sustainability. Major are presence competitive resources, policy implications, poor grid infrastructure. With contrasting environment, evaluation insightful for formulating sustainable planning strategies future mix.
